1- Relationship Building

Creating a strong foundation with your mentor will determine the success of mentorship. A relationship with a mentor is a relationship between two people with the goal of professional and personal development.

2-Goal Setting

A goal is something you wish to achieve, maybe you want to learn a new skill, graduate from school, pass a test, etc. Setting goals is the act of identifying something you want to accomplish and creating detailed steps to complete your goals.

3-Vision Board

A vision board is a collection of  images and words to help you visualize your plans, goals, and interests in life. Vision boards are used for motivation, visual reminders and inspiration.

4-Career Path defines the term career as an occupation or profession, especially one requiring special training, followed by one’s lifework. What is a career path? A career path is the progress and actions you take throughout your professional or occupational journey.

5-Resume Writing

A resume is a document that identifies your background, experiences, education and accomplishments. Having a solid resume is an important first impression that may determine if you are selected to interview. Resumes help separate the qualified from the unqualified, so make your resume stand out.

Leadership is the act of inspiring and motivating others to achieve a common goal. Leadership can look different depending on the environment. You can possess leadership qualities and not be in a leadership position; therefore, your title or lack thereof does not affect your ability to be a leader.

7-Public Speaking

Whether you are a professional or a student, there may be times when you have to speak in front of an audience. The art of public speaking is a skill you can utilize in various aspects of your life, including school and work.  No matter the situation, if you learn some key public speaking strategies, you can be a successful public speaker.

8-Elevator Speech

An elevator speech is a clear, short message about yourself. It often includes who you are, what you are doing, where you want to be and how you can benefit a company or organization. The idea behind an elevator speech is that it is short enough to be shared on an elevator ride.

9-Do's and Don't of Interviewing

If you have not had the opportunity to interview for a job position, you will at some point. Acing the interview will lead you one step closer to a job offer. This is why understanding the interview process is an important and valuable skill.

How you present yourself in the workplace is critical. Throughout your working years, you will probably hold a variety of positions. As a student, you might work a retail job and as a post-grad, you might be in a management position; each job you have will require a different set of skills and expertise.
